A fire broke out at a gas station in Hail last week injuring four workers and killing two after a customer filling gas at the station pulled at the fuel pump which led to the blaze.

Media spokesman for the Civil Defense Department in Hail, Nafei Al-Olayan said that the operations room received a report about a fire in a gas station on Abu Nimr Street that damaged a car and caused the explosion of two fuel tanks inside the station.

He explained that the fire broke out when the driver of a car pulling at a fuel pump while he was filling gas at the station which led to the conflagration adding that the station workers had put out the fire before the arrival of the Civil Defense who helped in extinguishing it completely.

Al-Olayan confirmed that the workers sustained serious burns as a result of the fire.

Al-Olayan added that the firefighters had prevented the fire from spreading to the neighboring tanks in less than 35 minutes.

However, three workers suffered burns and injuries to different parts of their bodies while two succumbed to their injuries at the King Khaled Hospital in Hail on Saturday where they had been transferred for treatment.

One worker left the hospital following a full recovery.
