The police have arrested two people for allegedly shooting at policemen in Al-Awamiya and helping several wanted persons involved in riots in that town in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, said the authorities captured Saudi citizens Abdullah bin Naji bin Abdullah Al-Ammar and Ahmad bin Saud Salman Al-Ammar after evidence showed they were involved in shooting at the policemen at their posts in Al-Awamiya.

Those arrested are on a wanted list that was released in January 2012 over the shootings and an attack on Qatif Prison.

Al-Turki said the suspects confessed during their interrogation to attacking the policemen and committing other crimes including several armed robberies of commercial outlets and houses, over 10 car thefts with three at gunpoint, and the kidnapping and rape of three juveniles on Oct. 4, and Dec. 4 and 5, 2013.
