The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has destroyed more than 20,000 expired products in Yanbu.

Products that violated standards and specifications were removed from the market and the owners of outlets selling expired goods were called in for investigation.

Inspection teams conducted intensive raids on several commercial locations in the governorate to register commercial violations, verify notifications and ensure the safety of products on sale.

Goods included more than 5,566 outdated foodstuff products, while other products contained no commercial data. Teams also found more than 544 out-of-date consumer products, including perfumes and creams. They also confiscated more than 2,869 products, such as electric plugs and leads.

They also confiscated 9,376 consumer products, such as perfumes and cosmetics, which contained no commercial data.

Investigations are underway to verify the calibration of more than 109 petrol pumps. Inspection teams raided a tire sale store in the governorate after receiving electronic notification. Around 194 tires were confiscated.

Another store was raided and more than 300 tires that didn’t meet specifications were confiscated. Penal measures will be taken against the owner.
