Civil Defense has expanded its activities to include more locations in the Makkah Province.

“About 22 new Civil Defense centers have been opened in various parts of the province,” Director of Civil Defense Maj. Gen. Jameel Arbaeen was quoted as saying by Al-Madinah daily yesterday.

Arbaeen said the newly opened centers are in fact the first of the 49 new ones allocated to the province.

The opening of new centers is part of the government’s efforts to improve the efficiency of the civil defense, he said.

The official added that eight of the new centers are in Jeddah, while Makkah gets six and Taif three. Qunfuda has three new centers and one each in Leeth, Rabigh and Kholais.

“All the new centers have been well-equipped and manned with sufficient number of workers,” he said, adding that the rest of the centers will be opened in the coming months at different places considering the situation in those locations.
