JEDDAH: Police in Jeddah arrested three African youths after they kidnapped a minor and assaulted him inside a house in the city’s southern Alkarantina neighborhood.
The criminal investigation unit arrested the youths and questioned them, revealing that the youths had stolen a car and kidnapped a minor in addition to having prohibited substances on them.
The oldest of the three, a 19-year-old from Cameroon, planned the kidnapping together with a 17-year-old from Chad and a 15-year-old from Sudan. They are being held in custody.
In another incident, police arrested a 40-year-old Pakistani who stole a steel box from the electronic company for which he works in the Khamra neighborhood on Friday during prayer time.
The man confessed to the crime.
Additionally, a police spokesman said that the presidency of the Evacuation Committee for the Northern Industrial Area in Jeddah commenced its work in cooperation with relevant bodies in March. It impounded 1,426 faulty cars and issued warning for 6,880 cars, in addition to catching 44 violators of the residency and visa laws, and arresting 545 expatriates for working in jobs not mentioned in their residency papers. The police also caught 1,798 electronic violations of the laws of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, shut down and stopped the services of 3,237 workshops and arrested 158 people for re-opening coffee shops and workshops illegally.
