DAMMAM: The majority of Saudi scholarship students are enrolled in three main specialties, with more than two-thirds specializing in social sciences, business and law.

A study prepared by researcher Abdullah Al-Arram noted that around 33.4 percent of scholarship students studied law, social sciences and business, followed by 22.8 percent studying engineering, productive industries and construction. Those who study science reached 16.8 percent, while health, social services, humanities, art, education and services formed the rest of the subjects.

The study recommended the creation of a comprehensive strategy for popular student diplomacy through the scholarship program that includes a diplomatic methodology, takes into consideration the privacy of other countries and their various cultures, and expands the training program of students before they leave the Kingdom.

Member of the scientific research and education committee in the Shoura Council Khader Al-QUrashi said the scholarships are organized according to the Kingdom’s needs for scientific specialties. He added that the ministry announces these specialties every year in addition to the scientific degree, whether it is a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree.
