Field inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce have seized more than 36,000 adulterated products like printer ink cartridges, shampoo and beauty creams from different locations, including old houses in southern Riyadh, Saudi Press Agency said.

Workers in these locations used to store and re-pack these products and sell them to other stores claiming that they were original and made by world famous brands, the agency said.

All seized items were confiscated and destroyed and those in charge of the locations were called for further investigation, the agency said.

In two different cases, the ministry’s inspection teams raided a two-floor popular house in Shimaisi District and two apartments in Malaz District where foreign workers were filling fake printer ink cartridges, the agency said, adding that over 12,000 such fake cartridges carrying global brand names were seized.

In a related development, the ministry’s inspectors seized more than 24,000 shampoo and cream packs from unknown sources in a popular house in Dira District, the agency said.
