RIYADH: The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) announced that 6,200 women recently underwent free training in the maintenance and sale of mobile phones.
Fahd Al-Otaibi, TVTC spokesman, said that training programs were recently initiated at 19 technical colleges for girls in various regions of the Kingdom.
The training is handled by trained specialists and experts in basic mobile maintenance, sales, customer service and maintenance, and advanced mobile phones.
He added that TVTC requires trainees should not be less than 18 years old for admission.
Al-Otaibi said that TVTC continues to receive applications for registration through its website for its different programs, each of which involves 25 hours of training. The program on advanced mobile maintenance needs 180 hours for each trainee to acquire the necessary skills needed in the field.
“The most important is acquiring the skill on hot air welding equipment as well as skills essential in dealing with mobile breakdowns,” he said.
These are in addition to the acquisition of technical skills to work on the point of sale and guidelines to deal with clients. He added that educating the trainees will help them get a job in the mobile sector after graduation, or set up their own shops and be self-employed.
Trainees have much to look forward to in the mobile sector, he said, adding that maintenance training programs and sale of mobile devices provides a high degree of satisfaction among the beneficiaries. “The degree of satisfaction reached 95 percent in an electronic poll recently. Nearly 4,500 were surveyed,” he said.
He added that 92.3 percent of young trainees in training programs achieved their desired interest in their field.
