Government officials are expecting air traffic operations at King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to increase by 7.5 percent by the end of 2014. Abdulhamid Aba Al-Ari, director-general of King Abdulaziz International Airport, said that around 28.5 million passengers are expected to fly into and out of the airport this year.

He said operations are expected to exceed the 6 percent global international growth rate for air movement, according to statistical reports for the International Council of Airports for 2013.

Over 27 million passengers flew through the airport in 2013, a 12 percent operational growth rate within a three-year period.
