A special court in Riyadh sentenced 8 persons to prison and a travel ban after they were found guilty of traveling to war-torn countries with the intention of participating and taking sides in the war. The court also found them guilty of receiving training in shooting and the use of bombs, purchasing weapons to use overseas, and contacting Al-Qaeda members to carry out terrorist attacks inside the Kingdom. The suspects were sentenced to between 30 months and 7 years totaling 35 years.

The suspects have appealed the verdict. They have 30 days in which to submit their documents otherwise the case will be submitted to a special court of appeal to review the verdict without their consent.
