The Labor Ministry announced Saturday that 873 of 1,183 private schools had failed to upload their salary-payment lists onto the ministry’s website since it introduced the salary protection program several months ago.

“Among the private schools 210 have uploaded their payment lists while 100 have pledged to do it within two weeks,” said Abdullah Abuthnain, deputy minister for inspections and development of work atmosphere.

He said the ministry would deny 873 schools access to its services except issuance or renewal of work permits. The ministry will implement the program on the private sector gradually until the first quarter of 2015.

“I am wondering why the private firms fail to upload the lists if they actually pay the salaries agreed upon to their workers,” he asked.
