The Riyadh Municipality removed over 4,061 abandoned cars from the city’s districts and streets last year.

The Municipality’s Sanitation Department staff survey the city and place warning stickers on abandoned cars, which state that they will be removed in ten days, after which the cars are removed and placed in the municipality’s impoundment area for a maximum period of three months.

If the owner shows up before the three months are up, the vehicle is released.

Riyadh’s Municipality is determined to remove abandoned cars from the districts and streets of the capital in order to preserve the environment.

It called on owners of abandoned cars to remove them before the grace period ends. It called on citizens to report abandoned vehicles by calling 940.
