The need to enhance efficiency of Saudi university hospitals and better coordination among universities in the Kingdom was discussed at the 24th annual meeting of professor and senior faculty members from various Saudi universities in Jazan on Thursday.

The meeting also debated on the new program called “physician assistant” in all Saudi universities, besides developing the curriculum for medical students, a statement issued by Jazan University said.

Dr. Hassan bin Habib Al-Hazmi, secretary of the university, said: “All universities are keen to develop the efficiency and quality of education in the medical field since it is related with humanity.”

The statement said that its first batch of medical students who had graduated from the university’s medical college were felicitated at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Jazan University received a visiting American delegation in dentistry to boost education and research facilities between an American university and Jazan University.

The delegation from the Dental College of Michigan University, led by Dr. Wansey Ceiling, met with rector of Jazan University Dr. Mohammed Al-Hiaza to discuss further cooperation between the two universities, the university statement said.

“We also decided to review plans for curriculum of dentistry and also increase number of lectures and seminars,” it noted.
