Veteran Saudi musicians, stating that music is an art and culture that “colors our everyday life,” have called for establishment of music schools in the Kingdom.

“Music is present in all aspects of our lives. It is only appropriate then that it is introduced to the Saudi community in a scientific manner. Music should be taught in specialized institutes and colleges for the benefit of talented citizens of our country,” said Saudi music composer Siraj Omar.

“Music accompanies a human being from the moment he is born. Every sound that nature makes is music to our ears — the sound of trees shaking in breeze, the sound of waves out in the open seas, the birds flying in the skies and the sound of other animals all around us – they all make a beautiful symphony of sounds that are pleasing to our ears,” Omar said.

“As one of the founders of the Saudi Society for Arts and Culture, I was aware of the importance of establishing scientific musical centers in the country to boost public taste in music,” he added.

Echoing similar sentiments, Saudi star Abdullah Rashad said: “I have always called for the establishment of such scientific centers. In the past, we have pursued the issue under the directions and support of late Prince Faisal bin Fahd, but his early departure, bless his soul, put a stop to the project.”

Rashad, who is passionate about technical, academic and integrated projects, said: “I still am. The establishment of such centers will sure encourage the youth, and contribute to a successful industry in our country.”

“The need for such centers or conservatory is a must here in the Kingdom,” said Saudi composer Nasser Al-Saleh, who has rich experience in the music and songs domain. “Music is the main nerve of media activities,” he added.

Musician Muhammad Amin Al-Boukhari, who is also a master violinist, and an important member of the musical bands of the Saudi Society for Arts and Culture, said: “This matter is important and essential to our country.



We, as Saudi musicians, have been representing our country in many international musical events and global festivals, mainly during the Saudi Cultural Days in several countries.

“This means that the need for establishing such scientific musical centers is a must to meet our needs in the field of art and music,” he said.
