An Indian employee working at a local company in the capital city has reportedly developed mental problems while on site.

Bilu P. Varghese, who has been working for the past three months as an electrical supervisor at Safari Co. Ltd., was terminated from work after exhibiting violent behavior.

Izzeddin Al-Haj, the company’s human resources manager, told Arab News that Varghese’s condition is stable after receiving treatment at Mubarak Hospital in Riyadh and he is set to travel back to his native country today.

“Social worker Mujeeb Kayamkulam will escort him to ensure his safe and secure return home,” said Al-Haj.

Initially, the company had sent Varghese to the airport after it terminated his contract, but he was denied permission to board the plane when he showed signs of aggression and was sent back to receive treatment.

“Today two engineers from our company will escort Varghese to the airport. Last time, it was our mistake, as we didn’t notice that his condition was still unstable. After three days of treatment, however, he seems fine and will be returning home,” he explained.

Arab News spoke to the social worker Naushad, who was Varghese’s caretaker, and he confirmed that the hospital had discharged him with a letter stating his mental health condition permitted travel.

“We are taking Varghese to the Indian Embassy and we will go to the airport after that. Mujeeb Kayamkulam has been assigned to travel with him for his safety and security. Indian Embassy officials have provided assistance in preparing Varghese’s travel and exit documents,” said Naushad.

Murali Ravindran, president of the Federation of Kerala Associations in Saudi Arabia (FOKASA), expressed his happiness over the return of the worker. The FOKASA had requested the embassy to assist in his treatment and ensure his safe return.

“We requested our embassy to take care of Varghese by admitting him to a mental hospital and bearing the cost of his treatment.
