A local charity will hold a contest among schools here to develop the best anti-drug campaign for the region.

The Alwid Charitable Association for Takaful and Family Development plans to hold the competition with the aid of the Eastern Province education department entitled “Your Life is Precious.”

Naima Al-Zamil, head of the charity, said an exhibition of the participants’ work would be held at the Al-Khobar Urban Housing Complex on Wednesday, April 9.

She said 20 schools would participate in the exhibition, with education officials acting as judges to choose the five best proposals.

She said the winners would be honored at a special ceremony. The plan is to implement the ideas at the start of the next academic year.

She said the exhibition is part of a campaign launched two years ago under the same title, and continued in the form of training workshops for students and their supervisors.

Al-Zamil said the charity provides services for 1,500 families affected by drug abuse.
