Defense Minister Prince Salman yesterday opened the new building of Madinah military command and expressed his satisfaction over the combat readiness of the armed forces.
"I am very happy to see the preparedness of forces under the Madinah command to defend the country and serve the pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque," Prince Salman wrote in the visitors' register.
Addressing the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Fahd Al-Anazi, chief of the Madinah military command, commended the government for its care and concern toward the armed forces, which had a big impact on training and preparing the military personnel and providing them with advanced weapons.
Prince Salman later visited Prince Sultan Armed Forces Hospital and met with doctors and patients there. The minister also presided over a meeting of the Center for Madinah Research and Studies' board of directors and said the center would play the role of a lighthouse by conducting studies on the Prophet's city and its heritage and enhancing knowledge of Muslims about their history.
