British Airways put an end to the passengers’ crisis on its flight from Riyadh to London that had been delayed for two consecutive days. The plane had to make two emergency landings in a row at King Khalid International Airport last Wednesday and Thursday as a result of a malfunction in the panel control of the wings.

The airliner sent another plane directly to Riyadh Friday at dawn to board the 300 passengers that were behind schedule three further hours plus the previous two days delay in their flight. The delay prompted a number of passengers to cancel their travel plans, while others changed their ticked to travel with another airline company.

The passengers who were trapped reached London at 11 a.m. Friday. A number of them intend to sue British Airways, which in turn acknowledged their rights to damages worth more than 600 euros each in compliance with aviation regulations.

The passengers posted a hashtag on Twitter to express their sufferings of more than 48 hours of delay. A number of British advocates joined the hashtag offering their services to sue the airliner.

The crisis escalated earlier when a number of the passengers refused to go back to the airport premises following the second emergency landing on Thursday, demanding an immediate solution to provide another plane instead.

The British daily newspaper Daily Mail published on its site a video clip taken by one of the passengers via his mobile featuring the captain of the plane releasing about 20 tons of fuel across Riyadh skies just before the second emergency landing. “It was a true disaster,” said one of the passengers.

“Most of the passengers were freaking out and started to cry, especially in the next emergency landing, when they knew that it was the same malfunction that caused this,” he added.
