RIYADH: A Bahraini delegation visiting the Kingdom has sought cooperation from the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) on technical expertise for developing tourism statistics in that country.
“The delegation comprising officials from Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority and Bahrain e-Government Authority recently visited the SCTNH headquarters here and explored the experiences of the Tourism Information and Research Center (MAS), which is the statistical arm of the commission,” an SCTNH official said on Thursday.
“The visit is aimed at building on the experience of MAS in the field of tourism statistics and information and the tourism satellite account, as well as technical expertise in setting a plan for developing tourism statistics in Bahrain,” one of the delegates was quoted by the commission as saying.
The MAS organized a workshop for the delegates, highlighting the experience of the Kingdom in the development of tourism statistics and tourism satellite account, as well as exchanging experiences between the two countries to establish an effective tourism statistical system for meeting the requirements of World Tourism Organization (WTO) in these areas.
The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important being exchange of information of characteristics of inbound tourism between the two countries, joint research project to apply the knowledge of parallel statistics and examining the possibility of deploying this expertise to other Arab countries to support and implement the tourism statistical information program recommended by the “Arab Tourism Strategy.”
