JEDDAH: A security officer at the Jubail Industrial City thwarted an attempt by a car to break through the security barrier at one of the important oil facilities in Jubail.
A website reported that a car moving in the direction of one of the oil facilities failed to stop at the security barrier despite repeated warnings. One of the soldiers then opened fire to forcibly stop the vehicle and apprehend the driver.
The man's identity is being ascertained and his statement recorded to determine the motive behind his actions. The case has been handed over to the relevant authorities.
Crown Prince Mohammad bin Naif has honored the soldier, Khalid Al-Maghfouri, who is part of the security detail of Jubail Industrial City, for his heroic work. In the office of the command for the security of the facilities in the Eastern Province, Gen. Saad Al-Ghamidi presented him the message of gratitude from the crown prince.
Al-Ghamidi urged drivers to abide by security instructions, not cross checkpoints without approval and cooperate with security personnel in the interest of general security.
In his message to the soldier, the crown prince said that for the work to intercept the vehicle and doing an excellent job, “we thank you and appreciate you for this. This is what is expected of you to defend the security of the country ... We hope that you will remain vigilant and ready to impart your duty with seriousness and commitment,” he said.
Khalid Al-Maghfouri thanked the crown prince for the honor bestowed on him. He also thanked his colleagues and officers of the security forces of the facility in the Eastern Province.
