Hassan Shaibah, dean of Batterjee Medical College for Science and Technology (BMC), held a meeting with representatives of the student body and faculty members on Sunday.

During the meeting, the dean and educationists listened to the students’ opinions and their concerns, provided answers to their problems and offered them academic guidance.

The dean also promised to consider their views and take necessary moves to facilitate their educational journey at BMC.

Shaibah told Arab News that the meeting was organized to support the college ethos, which believes in the need to involve and listen to students to enhance the educational process.

“In order for educational institutions to improve, it’s important to involve students in decision-making, take their opinions into consideration and adopt an open-door policy to enhance the relationship between students and management,” he said.

“Such meetings build an environment of trust and motivate students. If we don’t discuss students’ problems and try to solve them, it will deter them from their studies. At BMC we take into consideration the views of our senior and junior students, especially when setting the curriculum, to ensure the best interest of students,” he explained.

Shaibah promised students he would meet with them on a regular basis, once every semester to discuss their problems and answer their inquiries.

The dean noted that BMC is striving to achieve academic excellence and work is underway to negotiate agreements and partnerships with international institutions and universities.

Osama Kinsara, vice dean for academic affairs, Hawazin Mutawie, vice dean of the female section, program heads and faculty members attended the meeting.
