The security and safety of society is not only the responsibility of the government and its organizations but also an individual’s duty toward his country. With this view, the Batterjee Medical College for Science and Technology gave a training session on civil defense under the slogan, “Towards a Safe Society” on the occasion of World Civil Defense Day at the premises of the college.

The program to celebrate the World Civil Defense Day was organized by the college’s Safety and Security Department in collaboration with the Directorate of Civil Defense in Jeddah.

The event included the distribution of brochures and publications to raise awareness inside and outside the college against life threats by drawing attention to the responsibility of citizens to observe safety measures at home and the work place.

Dr. Hassan Shaibah, BMC dean, said that BMC is very keen on participating in such activities and events that facilitate achieving the college’s vision by serving the community and spreading the culture of safety among all segments of society. He added that the BMC, represented by its Safety and Security Department, holds Firefighting and Disaster Management courses that are offered to students and employees on a regular basis. He noted that BMC uses the latest facilities and machines that support the highest safety standards.

Sobhi Batterjee, chairman of the Board of Trustees, valued the government’s keenness to implement the highest measures of safety and security to enable citizens and residents to live and work in a stable, secure and comfortable environment.

Ibrahim Ahmed, a medical student said that the training and information of the Civil Defense Day was very informative and it is important that everyone has a social responsibility toward society’s safety and security.
