Batterjee Medical College of Sciences and Technology’s (BMC) women students won 3rd place in the basketball tournament in the fourth Youth Forum held in Jeddah recently where students from public schools and universities in the Makkah region participated.

The Youth Forum is held under the supervision of the governor of Makkah region.

Asala Mamdough Wafa, one of the team members, told Arab News that the sports competition in the Youth Forum motivated students to take up sports, which is a good sign because physical activities are as important for female students as they are for male students.

She also said that though it was a tough competition, they learned from their mistakes and would try to grab the first position in the future.

“We are very thankful to Dr. Hassan Shibah, the dean of BMC and others who supported us by giving us such an opportunity to enhance our confidence and physical ability,” she said, adding, “It was an excellent and enjoyable experience.”

Dr. Muhammad Taib, vice dean of Student Affairs also congratulated the students and said that they had proved that they are not only excellent basketball players but also participated in table tennis and the billiard competition in Dar Al Hekma and made the college proud of them.

Dr. Shibah highlighted his care and support for extracurricular activities and different competitions, to foster the spirit of participating in professional competitions, for effective communication and to encourage in students the importance of culture and sports.
