Civil Defense rescue teams recovered the body of a heavy machine operator killed when a five-story building collapsed on him in the Nakasha district in Makkah on Tuesday.

The accident occurred while the building was being demolished to prepare for the development of the second ring road in the neighborhood.

Three Civil Defense teams under the command of Col. Sami Al-Jadaani, director of administration, undertook the rescue operations.

The man was dead when the rescuers reached him. They took the body to a hospital morgue in Makkah.

Saleh Al-Olayani, Civil Defense spokesman in Makkah, said the work at the accident site was stopped until an investigation is completed.

The investigation committee would also make recommendations to avoid such accidents in future, he said.

Ali Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the Red Crescent in Makkah, said there was no visible injuries on the man when he was found.
