Professionals and experts from various fields encouraged the young students at a seminar to take up career planning at a young age very seriously.

Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) organized the seminar at the Pakistan International School here to provide an opportunity to the students to meet experts and professionals from medical, engineering, business and other fields to discuss the importance of career planning and how to focus on their career according to their aspirations and talent.

Besides many boys and girls from the school, the seminar was attended by Aftab Ahmed Khokhar, Pakistan consul general; and his wife, Afshan Khokhar.

Providing the students information on the medical career, Dr. Faqa Imran, gynecology professor of Batterjee Medical College, and Dr. Ghazanfar Ali Naqwi from King Faisal specialist Hospital, explained about the hardships as well as importance of the profession; its different branches, and fields.

Every year, Dr. Ali Naqwi said, almost 5,000 doctors got their medical degrees and the number was increasing.

Dr. Imran asked the aspiring doctors to be committed to the profession, as the fees for medical education are extremely high.

Dr. Vaqar Ahmed from King Abdulaziz University explained about the opportunities and scholarships available in different fields for Pakistani students in the university.

Eng. Areej Fakhruddin Ahmed and Suhail Maqbool Malik from Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Jeddah, dwelt on careers in engineering and its related fields like the scope in petroleum engineering, computer engineering, Information technology, civil engineering and chemical engineering.

Dr. Zubair Ahmed from ISD and Farhana Tabassum Siddique, quality supervisor, nursing with Al Riyadah College, Jeddah, spoke about social science, its understandings and importance and need of the day.

They explained that economy, economic development and social responsibilities walk side-by-side. Experts, suggesting that economics was an important field in today’s world, said it had great scope.

Sayed Habib from IDB informed the students about the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Civil Service (CSS) exams. He asked the students to work hard, think about Pakistan and its development and progress.

Dr. Shams Toor, a member of PWS, gave a brief introduction about the free medical camps, school health services, arranging scholarships for needy students, raising awareness through health seminars, the hallmark of the mega construction project of the Kidney transplant center near Abbotabad and other activities of the organization.

He also underlined the importance of choosing a career with planning and stressed on the importance of career planning seminars and programs.

Dr. Khalil, president of PWS, thanked the school authorities for helping in organizing the event and promised that PWS will continue to organize such events for the benefit of students.

Khokhar congratulated the PWS and school authorities for organizing such a successful and important event.

Earlier, a PWS member, Fauzia Khan, and the program convener, introduced the students to the importance of career planning, fulfilling career, focus on learning about themselves, think about their interests, personality and values, and choosing a career path that suits them.

Principal Mohammed Bilal and Vice Principal Farhat Naeem thanked the PWS for giving an opportunity to the students to build up their confidence and guide them to chose a way for a better future.
