A high-ranking Indian government official visited the Kingdom on Thursday in an attempt to pursue outstanding issues of stranded workers not covered in the amnesty.

Ashok K. Kantha, secretary in India's Ministry of External Affairs, met with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah in Jeddah.

The meeting was attended by senior Indian officials including Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao. From the Saudi side, senior officials including Asian region secretary Mustafa Al-Kauser attended the meeting.

According to sources, Indian officials drew attention to the stranded Indian laborers, who are not able to benefit from concessions granted by the Kingdom and remain stranded.

India is determined to facilitate the return of all undocumented and stranded workers who wish to return home before the grace period ends on Nov. 3.

The Indian officials also discussed this year's Haj arrangements with their Saudi counterparts.
