The International Islamic Relief Organization in Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) organized a campaign to distribute residential electrical equipment in poorer neighborhoods across the Kingdom in coordination with the Basmat Amal volunteers group Smile and Hope.

The in-kind contribution includes 216 bathroom sinks, 218 bathroom water-closets, 96 window air conditioners, 101 split air conditioners and 260 water heaters, all taken from the IIROSA building that was removed for development projects in Makkah.

Ehsaan Saleh Taieb, acting secretary-general of IIROSA, commended the efforts of the women’s section of the Seasonal Development Project and the Basmat Amal group to serve the community and humanity at large.

“The organization looks forward to meeting the needs of many more poor people through various other projects in future,” said Taieb. “Our goal is to help anyone in need, all the way from orphans to families.” =

Sadia Alwafi, coordinator of the IIROSA Seasonal Development Project, said: “This campaign is aimed at contributing support to poor people and providing help to their families. The coordination from Basmat Amal was vital for the completion of this project.”

She said that the project reflects the keen interest and high sense of responsibility of IIROSA toward mankind and the importance of helping vulnerable groups in the Kingdom.

Samah Najar, head of Basmat Amal, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to IIROSA for collaborating with them. She said: “It is the first time we are collaborating with IIROSA and we are grateful to the organization for bring us together to do this humanitarian work. We expect such collaborations in future with IIROSA and expand similar charity work to connect more with the community.”

She added that volunteers play an important role in the completion of such campaign and therefore in a process to carry out the task, 15 female volunteers came forward to assist. Commenting on it, she said “Volunteers are led by a desire to make a difference on a local level while creating a community of like-minded individuals.”

During the meeting, IIROSA and the Basmat Amal group discussed various tasks and responsibilities needed for the completion of the campaign.

Dina Kabli, a student at King Abdulzziz University and a member of the group, said: “It feels great to be able to give back to the community and to be a part of reputable and respected entity like IIROSA and gain work experience. Such initiatives and campaigns add to the growing volunteering opportunities for young people in the Kingdom.”

She added that volunteering looks good on their CVs and ultimately, their careers, because they develop a range of skills and enjoy different experiences.
