Tarif Al Jadid police have received a complaint from a man whose son fell off a ride in the children play area in a popular market and suffered two skull fractures and brain hemorrhage.

Oufan Al-Hazmi, the father of Homoud, who is now in the intensive care unit in an unstable condition at Tarif General Hospital, demanded an investigation to identify individuals responsible.

Col. Bandar Atallah Al-Aida of Northern Frontier Police said police are waiting for a Civil Defense report on the accident to determine the park management’s compliance to safety regulations before issuing a final report.

It was an accident. No foul play was involved, he said. Ride accidents in the country have become a worrying problem in many cities and towns.

The most recent ride accidents were in Riyadh more than a month ago and later in Al Ahsa where five children were injured after falling off a ride.

This incident involved the balloons ride at the National Park of the city’s popular market. The accident was followed by a safety inspection of rides in the city.
