Col. Madi Al-Otaibi, director of Planning Division at General Directorate of Civil Defense (GDCD), told a local newspaper that the directorate plans to establish Civil Defense air bases in all regions that will include the use of helicopters.
There are currently five air bases across the Kingdom. The director of the Planning Division said that Civil Defense began to study establishing centers for 2014 due to the growing population of the Kingdom, which requires an increase in the demands.
“Civil Defense service is required everywhere, but there are priorities according to specific points and scientific standards,” he said. “Nevertheless, the civil defense situation is excellent, as its establishment of 200 centers during the last two years.
