Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah ordered Thursday the transfer of newly born conjoined twins, who were born with missing organs, from an Abha hospital to the King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh for advanced treatment.

“The health minister spoke with the director of the Abha Maternity and Children's Hospital, where the twins were born. The doctor treating them ordered their quick transfer to the KFMC,” said Ibrahim Al-Hefzi, director-general of Health Affairs in Asir. The twins were born to a Yemeni woman who was initially admitted to the Dhahran Janoub Hospital. She was later taken to the Abha hospital for delivery.

A royal decree has been issued for the treatment of the twins at any hospital in the Kingdom, an online newspaper reported Saturday.

The twins are joined at the waist. Making the case more complicated, only one of the twins has two legs. The reproductive organs, while visibly male at the front, are ill-formed. There is only one umbilical cord and one of the twins does not have palm in the left hand, with fingers growing out of the elbow, the report said.
