The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has warned real estate developers against selling of housing units on maps to potential buyers unless they get the required licenses, Saudi Press Agency said.

Five years ago, the Council of Ministers passed a decision on the formation of a ministerial committee entrusted to regulate sales of housing units on maps.

In a statement carried by SPA, the ministry called on citizens and residents not to respond to any promotions or ads related to selling or booking housing units on maps (under construction) or pieces of lands not yet developed until they get the required license from the concerned committee.

Potential buyers should make sure that promoters have the license given by the Ministry of Commerce together with the guarantee account number of the project approved by the Sales Committee on Maps, the agency said.
