An expat doctor has been banned from working and traveling following the death of a young woman during a cesarean section in a private hospital in Madinah until the final report on the cause of death is submitted.

An investigation jury has held a series of meetings with the doctor with a medical team which had treated the victim before her death, a source has been quoted by local media as saying. The jury also consulted a number of gynecologists to determine the viability of the actions taken in relation to the victim, Mona Al-Ahmadi, in the moments prior to her death.

The victim, who experienced acute pain after the cesarean, was subjected to another operation by the same doctor, without the approval of her husband. The doctor allegedly failed to give any reasons before the second operation. The woman was later discharged from hospital. However, four days later, she experienced fatigue and returned to the doctor, who did not take her condition seriously.

“Upon returning to home, the victim’s pain continued and, reluctantly, her husband brought her to the same hospital where she had been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). However, once again, the doctor refused to see her at that time. The woman died shortly after that,” a relative of the victim was quoted by local media.
