Riyadh municipality has closed down several well-known stores for health violations, including Dunkin’ Donuts in Al-Olaya and Pizza Hut in Batha.

This took place during surprise raids by the municipality on Tuesday evening. A total of 291 raids took place in 16 branch municipalities.

The municipality found more than 90 workers had violated health regulations. Some workers did not have health certificates, while others had expired certificates. Some of them suffered from ailments and had ulcers and acne marks on their hands.

The municipality inspected 204 facilities, 42 of which were closed down for various reasons including the absence or expiry of vocational licenses, bad hygiene, the presence of insects, poor food storage, expired foodstuffs and many other violations.

The municipality’s inspectors confiscated 230 kg of meat, poultry and fish, because there was no clear country of origin, and were not fit for human consumption, in addition to confiscating 192 pots and pans that were not fit for cooking.





Riyadh municipality aims to increase environmental and health awareness in the local community with these inspections.

Riyadh Mayor Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Muqbil said health controls over food stores would be intensified over the next seven months to ensure the health and safety of citizens and residents.
