Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif recently inaugurated a festival dubbed “Our Youth With Us” at Prince Muhammad bin Fahd Stadium. The festival, which will be staged over six months, will witness two events per month that will be held at Half Moon Bay and King Fahd Park in Dammam.

Forty racing cars will participate in each event and 2,000 seats have been allocated to the audience.

During the opening speech, the governor asked the youth to be cautious and give priority to safety and security during the festival events.

He also advised the youth to maintain public facilities and leave places clean on departure.

“Maintaining the status of these places and public facilities is one of the traits that characterize Muslim youth,” he added.

Fahd Al-Jubair, mayor of the Eastern Province, revealed that the mayoralty plans to construct 100 multipurpose stadiums for the youth.

He made the statement during his speech at the inauguration, adding that the project will be completed by the end of the year.

“These stadiums will be dedicated to helping our youth utilize their leisure time in practicing various sports and hobbies,” Al-Jubair said.

He said the festival was the governor’s initiative and is the first of its kind dedicated to the youth.

“The governor’s directives reflect his wise vision in realizing the importance of the youth’s involvement in their favorite sports and social activities in an organized and beneficial way,” he asserted.

Faisal Abdullah Fouad, a businessman, stressed the importance of investing in youth as well as supporting them and contributing toward developing their creativity and talents.

Fouad expressed his gratitude to the governor and the Eastern Province mayoralty for giving businessmen the opportunity to participate in such activities and events.

More than 500 participants took part in the opening ceremony and sports enthusiasts participated in various activities including paragliding, laser, motorcycling, biking and car shows. In addition, more than 160 motorcyclists and 40 bicyclists displayed their talents to the audience.

The festival management has allocated 10,000 seats for the audience, while more than 200 seats have been allocated for orphans, martyrs’ families and individuals with special needs.
