The Ebsar Charitable Organization for Rehabilitation and Vision Impairment Services launched the 8th Course on Low Vision Clinical Care and a new program for early detection of visual impairment in children on Sunday.

The 5-day program was launched at the Jeddah Crown Plaza Hotel.

The course is accredited by the “Saudi Commission for Health Specialties” for 28 scientific hours. The ceremony also included the launch of a new program for early detection of vision problems in children, called “Eye Spy 2020.”

Mohammed Tawfik Bellow the secretary general of Ebsar foundation said that this recently developed technology will make it easier to test the visual activity, depth perception and color vision of children. This will be the first time that this patented, automated approach will be available in the region.

“The course will engage 40 eye care professionals to provide coordinated care to adults and children who are visually impaired. In an effort to encourage the availability of this specialized care, the Foundation will provide 20 hours of voluntary medical services to course participants, in addition to Continuing Education Credit,” he said.

He further said that this is the 8th year that the Ebsar Foundation has offered this course in cooperation with the Saudi National Committee for Prevention of Blindness (NPBC), and the “Middle East Africa Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO).” An international faculty of experts from US and Saudi Arabia will present the course,” he added.
