Oct. 30 will be the last date for receiving applications for and renewing emergency certificates (ECs), one source at the Consulate General of India (CGI) in Jeddah told Arab News on Thursday.

The consulate urged Indian nationals who wish to apply for emergency certificates under the amnesty, which expires on Nov. 3, to act swiftly. It stressed that no further applications for EC issuance or renewal would be entertained by the CGI after Oct. 30. The last date for issuance will be Oct. 31.

The consulate had earlier urged Indians who had received exit stamps on their passports under the ongoing amnesty scheme to check the validity of their passports before purchasing tickets for flights to India.

In cases where passports have expired, applicants are advised to obtain another emergency certificate and carry both passports (on which the exit stamp has been stamped) while traveling.

Similarly, Indians who have gotten exit stamps on their ECs under the ongoing amnesty scheme should check the validity of their ECs before purchasing plane tickets.

The Indian Embassy on Thursday asked Indians who have obtained emergency certificates to approach deportation center authorities for obtaining final exit visas before Nov. 3.

Saudi authorities have informed the embassy that the center, known in Arabic as “Tarheel,” should issue final exit papers to individuals who have obtained emergency certificates but who do not possess original copies of their passports or residency permits, said Surinder Bhagat, spokesperson at the Indian Embassy.

“The embassy urges all Indian nationals who have obtained emergency certificates to approach Tarheel authorities and obtain a final exit before Nov. 3,” said Bhagat.

He said embassy officials would be available at deportation centers in Riyadh on working days to assist Indian nationals.
