The Philippine Embassy has expressed gratitude to the Saudi Reconciliation Committee (SRC) in Dammam headed by Judge Sheikh Ahmad Al-Osaimi for helping to resolve the case of Filipino death row detainee Rodelio Lanuza who was freed and repatriated to the Philippines in September 2013.

“I recall that in 2011, I received a call from SRC Chairman Sheikh Ahmad Al-Osaimi about the breakthrough in the case, and the meeting with the victim’s family that was arranged by the SRC,” said Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago.

He added that since then, embassy officials on various occasions had closely coordinated with Sheikh Al-Osaimi and Sheikh Ali bin Ali until Lanuza’s case was resolved.

“I reiterate to the Committee Mr. Lanuza’s gratitude and the embassy’s appreciation of the great work they have done,” he added.

Tago later presented plaques of appreciation to Sheikh Al-Osaimi, Sheikh Ali, and committee members in a simple ceremony at the SRC headquarters in Dammam.





Earlier, the envoy and the committee members discussed the status of Filipinos in the Kingdom, especially in the Eastern Province.
