Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif will open the second “Nara’ak," Arabic for “we sponsor you," forum today.

Experts in sociology and family development from Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries will participate in the forum, organized by the Center for Science and Technology (Scitech). More than 1,000 participants attended the forum last year and participated in three workshops.

“People’s thirst for sociology forums and their eagerness to attend family development seminars prompted us to launch the forum for the second year in a row,” said Habib Abu Al-Hamail, the head of the forum.

All signs and indicators confirm that family safety and society programs achieve positive results in terms of the impact on participants, he said. “The success of the first year of the forum exceeded expectations. More than 85 percent of participants reported that they were highly impressed with the insight they received during the forum.”

Several experts have pointed out that through the forum, parents often learn that what they thought was best for their children was actually the opposite.

Al-Hamail stressed that the forum is a giant step toward change.

The forum aims to spread new concepts and beliefs in Gulf society, hoping to wipe out erroneous and misleading beliefs and traditions in education and daily behavior.
