Muhammaed Abu Zaid, spokesperson for the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO), has revealed that there will be no changes in the train departure schedule despite the strong dusty winds that occurred in the Eastern and Central Provinces of the Kingdom.

On the contrary, he added, trains are the best medium of transportation in bad weather conditions as trains have high efficiency safety systems and the ability to function in these conditions.

Abu Zaid said that the SRO has issued instructions to all the train crewmembers to take caution and comply with the instructions given to them from the control center.

“Till this point there is no reason to suspend or delay the trips,” he added.

The control center communicates with the trains’ crewmembers to inform them of the status of the rails, visibility rates, and wind speed, to ensure the safety of passengers.

Meanwhile, Khalid Al-Khaibari, official spokesman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA), said that air traffic at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam is normal.

Al-Khaibari said, “Air traffic at the airport has not been affected by the bad weather conditions in Dammam on Wednesday and Thursday. So far there is no need to transfer or postpone flights as the level of visibility is still high.”

In a related development, the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) announced that the weather in the upcoming three days is going to be partly cloudy to clear with a chance of light rain.
