JEDDAH: Pakistani expatriates here condemned India for repressing Kashmiri people’s just demands and the use of brutal force to stifle their voice and has also demanded the withdrawal of Indian forces from the valley. They urged Islamabad to use international forums like OIC and UN and to press world powers to hold a plebiscite in Indian Kashmir as per the UN’s resolution of 1948.
Speaking at a function organized by the Pakistan Repatriation Council (PRC), former Saudi diplomat Dr. Ali Al-Ghamdi, who was the chief guest, appealed to the OIC to take steps to stop bloodshed in Kashmir.
India and Pakistan along with genuine Kashmiri leadership should also continue dialogues to seek solution of Kashmir peacefully, he said.
“Without solving Kashmir issue, peace in the subcontinent cannot be ensured,” Al-Ghamdi said.
Pakistan should come forward to raise the issue in Security Council, the OIC and with big powers to press India to fulfil its commitment to hold referendum in Kashmir. He said Pakistan’s pleading of Kashmir issue will be strong when it repatriates and rehabilitates patriotic Pakistanis from Bangladesh.
Al-Ghamdi condemned the recent blast at a Dhaka cafe, but he found it quite bizarre to put blame on Dr. Zakir Naik. Dr. Naik is highlighting the role of peace and tolerance in Islam and his Peace TV channel program showing in several languages has attracted thousands of non-Muslims toward Islam so how he can inspire any one to terrorism. Without proper proof Bangladesh banned Naik’s Peace TV and India is also preparing to take similar action. I think this is only to suppress Islamic voice to reach to common people, which we condemn.
Presiding over the function, Kashmiri community leader Mohammad Zareen Khan said that Kashmiris have been fighting for their right to self-determination since July 1931 when 22 young boys were martyred in Srinagar.
He said young Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani who was martyred last week was fighting for right of self-determination and hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris joined his funeral in support. He thanked Pakistani people for their support to the Kashmir’s cause, which will not stop until they get freedom from illegitimate Indian occupation.
Convener Syed Ehsanul Haque said: “Pakistan is not complete without Kashmir and stranded Pakistanis,” and urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to activate the senate committee created in October 2015 under Senator Sartaj Aziz and take concrete steps for the repatriation of stranded Pakistanis from Bangladesh.
