RIYADH: Pakistan has called for coordinated efforts to fight terrorism in the wake of strikes in Madinah, Jeddah and Qatif.
Sartaj Aziz, adviser to Pakistani premier for foreign affairs, said terror acts carried out in the Kingdom, Bangladesh, Turkey, Afghanistan and other countries show that terrorism has become an international challenge and that there is need to unify efforts to eliminate it.
Meanwhile, Pakistani expats reiterated their condemnation of all forms of terrorism. They said they stand shoulder to shoulder “with our Saudi brothers and sisters in the fight against terrorism, which has no religion or country.”
Saeed Ahmad Wain, a community leader, said: “Pakistan is an ally of the Kingdom, which is leading a 35-nation alliance of Muslim countries to combat terror. The people and the government of Pakistan stand with the people and the government of Saudi Arabia.”
Chaudhry Faryad, a Pakistani businessman in Riyadh, echoed the sentiment saying: “Terrorism is a cancerous growth which has expanded worldwide over the years, and innocent people are suffering due to this menace.”
Waqar Naseem Wamiq, a literary figure, told Arab News: “We are saddened to know that 12 Pakistanis have been detained in connection with the suicide attacks. It is very disturbing.”
He added: “We, too, are victim of terrorism in Pakistan, but are firm in fighting it and fully stand by the government and the Saudi people.”
I fully endorse what our ambassador Manzoor Ul Haq told Arab News — a Muslim cannot imagine perpetrating any act of terrorism in the holy city of Madinah, he stressed, adding that some misguided people, being handled by foreign elements, are being used to disturb peace in Pakistan and now in Saudi Arabia.
Mansour Memon, a doctor and a philanthropist, said: “We reject terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Peace is the only solution for good living and I urge the members of the community to be good examples.” He said the evil must be fought by all countries unitedly if they wish to end it.
Director of King Khalid University Faleh Al-Sulami said these ugly acts prove the danger of deviant thought, which allows the killing of innocent people.
Only a strong unity of the nation can make it face those tampering with the Kingdom’s security and stability, he said.
“Our brave soldiers present wonderful examples in the service of their king and land, defending the purest place on earth,” he said, adding that all citizens condemn such criminal acts and stand united by their leadership in the fight against such thoughts that are rejected by all religions and ethnicities.
Mustafa bin Omar Halabi from the Taiba University described the crimes committed as acts of bankruptcy of all reasonable, humane and religious values, as they violated the sanctity of the one of the holiest places and terrorized unarmed civilians.
Halabi said that the Kingdom, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the Crown Prince and Deputy Crown Prince, will continue to uproot terrorism, defeat terrorists and protect the Two Holy Mosques.
He stressed that it is important for citizens to report terrorists, extremists and suspicious activities, and warned young men against listening to devious calls and thoughts, and resort to the teachings of the Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet.
Professor of modern intellectual methods at Taiba University, Dr. Mansour bin Abdulaziz Al-Hjaili, said the recent terrorist act in the city of the Prophet, and during the holy month of Ramadan, is evidence of the deviant thought of the perpetrators who only wish to kill, maim and terrorize innocent civilians.
Al-Hjaili said the Saudi state is based on the Qur’an and the implementation of the Sunnah of the Prophet.
The Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his Crown Prince and Deputy Crown Prince, will continue to serve the Two Holy Mosques and protect the country’s citizens and residents.
He called on all citizens to support the government, and refrain from following destructive and deviant thoughts that aim to shatter the security of the nation, and report anyone who dissipates such evil thoughts.
