The price of certain food products are on the rise ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The price of rice has increased by almost three percent, dried milk one percent, frozen chicken just under one percent and cooking oils by a quarter of a percent.

Such price increases, however, were met with decreases in the prices of other goods, such as sugar, which decreased by two percent, locally produced chicken and fresh and pasteurized milk, which decreased marginally by 0.03 percent.

According to a report issued by the center that conducted the study, which is affiliated with the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the price of one kilogram of Basmati rice is 19 percent higher than what it used to be during the same period last year.
