Plans are afoot to develop local human resources in the field of technology and downstream industries in the Kingdom in cooperation with Germany.

During a presentation at the Saudi-German Business Forum in Berlin, Ali Al-Othaim of the Council of Saudi Chambers said German expertise could be harnessed in the Kingdom to develop local human resources, develop technology and improve downstream industries.

He outlined the prospects for possible cooperation between the two countries. He proposed the setting up of a Saudi-German Business Development Center in Riyadh where emerging entrepreneurial projects could produce quality products to meet international standards.

Al-Othaim suggested creation of industrial business incubators which can lead to new enterprises.

During the forum, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Council of Saudi Chambers and its counterpart to establish a Saudi-German Business Council to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in trade.

Abdullah Al-Mobty, chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, who was a signatory to the agreement, said the proposed business council would be empowered to explore new areas of cooperation in trade between the two countries and strengthen existing trade relations.
