JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has unveiled an e-hiring service for the Haj season that allows employers to recruit temporary staff via the ‘Ajeer’ portal.

The move is aimed at balancing demand and supply of jobs during the pilgrimage. The portal combines companies which provide services for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah and job seekers including citizens and expats who wish to work during Haj.

Ahmed Kattan, deputy minister for labor policies of the ministry, said the temporary work portal can be accessed at https://www.temporarywork.com.sa and companies can post jobs on the portal to let job seekers review them and submit their applications.  

He said that the portal also allows job seekers to submit their applications in the wait list, and employers can retrieve their registered information and appoint suitable candidates.

Kattan emphasized that the portal will provide an electronic market that takes into account the demand and supply aspects, while individuals can be contracted on a temporary basis by Haj service providers. Candidates must be Saudi nationals and residents applying for the job should have previously performed Haj.
