In an effort to improve services to Umrah pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque in Makkah, authorities have initiated several measures including training of employees in communication skills.

Umm Al-Qura, a top university in the holy city, has entered into an agreement with the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs to train Haram employees in various areas of operation.

The training program began on Sunday, focusing on communication skills development particularly for guiding non-Arab pilgrims. All employees of the Grand Mosque would be undergoing the training to hone up their skills to provide proper and correct guidance to pilgrims and visitors, an official from the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques Affairs said on Sunday.

The training covers various areas including work ethics according to Islamic traditions and a humane approach while serving the pilgrims. The presidency has reiterated that it is committed to providing best services to pilgrims. The presidency also established its own exclusive training center to teach English to its employees, and about 250 employees are undergoing the training. It is also making efforts to train employees in foreign languages like Urdu, Persian, and French.
