One person died and eight people were injured seriously in a head-on collision between two vehicles in the area between Qalwah and Al-Hujrah in the Sumah region on Wednesday.

Bystanders transferred five of the injured victims to a nearby hospital, while three first-aid teams were rushed to the accident site.

Imad Mansi Al-Zahrani, the Saudi Red Crescent spokesman and public relations officer, said that medical aid centers in Al-Mekhwah, Qalwah and Hujrah as well as two teams from the health department and Civil Defense extended help to the injured.

The traffic department, meanwhile, has launched an investigation into the accident.

Al-Zahrani said citizens and expats should not move injured individuals from accident scenes, unless they are trained in first-aid, as they could cause further complications. He also urged people not to crowd around accident scenes to allow emergency vehicles and staff room to maneuver.






Ahmad Mueidh Al-Zahrani, spokesman of Baha Health Department, said Qalwah General Hospital was immediately alerted to receive the injured.

“Four of the injured suffered from serious injuries,” he said, adding three victims were moved to King Fahd Hospital, while one person who was transferred to Qalwah Hospital, died. The other victims were admitted to the hospital for observation.
