Prince Mishari bin Saud and Baha Emirate General Director, Hamed Al Shemari, have together succeeded in containing the wave of resignations by directors of government hospitals in protest against a doctor’s recent appointment as assistant-director of a hospital in Baha.

On the directives of Prince Mishari, Al Shemari met with the protesters in the presence of the Director-General of Health Affairs and listened to their views.

Al Shemari persuaded them to withdraw their resignations and asked each director to write a full report on obstacles and differences in opinion. He said the reports will be sent to the Emir of the region on Sunday and he will discuss the reports with the Minister of Health next Tuesday during his visit to the region.

In a statement, the General Health Directorate Affairs said: “The decision taken by the Director-General of the Baha General Health Authority, Ghram Allah bin Abdullah, was made based on the instructions of the Assistant-Director General of Health for Therapeutic Services, Dr. Adel Al Ghamedi, and it is an internal decision in public interest.”

The directorate condemned raking up of the issue on social networking sites saying that these are internal affairs.

It also stressed that the appointment of directors for different positions in management, as with the new appointment of doctors to leadership roles in Baha, is based on their scientific background and experience. “Whoever was appointed to such roles will be followed up on to see that their performance is in the service of the patients,” the statement added.
