The Islamic Development Bank has invited nominations from individuals and organizations for two separate prizes in science and technology and women’s contribution to development for the year 2014.

“The S&T Prize recognizes performance of scientific institutions in applying science and technology for the socioeconomic development of the IDB member countries and their citizens,” said IDB President Ahmed Mohamed Ali.

A cash award of $100,000 is presented to each winner in three categories. Thirty-three institutions have won the prize since it was instituted in 2001. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 27.

The second award recognizes outstanding achievements made by individual women as well as organizations and their contributions toward integrating women into the socioeconomic development process.

The 2014 prize is devoted to women’s contribution to food security,” said the president. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30.
