The 65th Republic Day of India will be celebrated at Indian Embassy in Riyadh, the consulate in Jeddah and Indian community schools across the Kingdom on Sunday.

Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao will hoist the national flag at the embassy in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter at 9 a.m.

“All members of Indian community in the Kingdom and friends of India have been invited to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony,” Surinder Bhagat, the embassy spokesman.

In Jeddah, Consul General Faiz Ahmad Kidwai will hoist the national flag at 8 a.m. at the consulate premises on Tahlia Street.

The consulate has invited all Indian nationals, persons of Indian origin and friends of India to attend the ceremony.

Invitees have been requested to assemble at the consulate by 7.45 a.m.

“India is celebrating 67 years as a sovereign state,” said Bhagat. “It is one of the largest and most flourishing democracies in the world.”

He said that one of the most important days in the history of the nation, the Republic Day will be celebrated with great zeal and patriotic fervor all over India and abroad.

Many community events have been lined up to mark the occasion in the Kingdom.
