The Indonesian consulate, in its effort to establish contact with a good number of its community workers in various villages and towns in the Western part of the Kingdom, has decided to reach out to them directly to get to know their problems and challenges at ground level.

“This is not merely consular tour visits to out-stations to carry out attestation jobs, but to listen to their grievances and sort out issues immediately to prevent Indonesian workers from going through any ordeal,” Fauzy Chusny, senior diplomat at the Indonesian consulate in Jeddah, said.

Chusny said the Indonesian consulate was keen on reaching out to their community living in different parts, and it has selected Madinah as the first city to interact with the community for two days from Friday to Saturday at the Indonesian Haj office at Top Ten Mall in Madinah.

Indonesian officials will also receive documents requiring attestation, issuing or renewal of passports and issuing birth registration certificates besides other consular works, Chusny stated.

There are over 100,000 Indonesian nationals living in Madinah and over 400 Indonesian students studying at the Madinah Islamic University, he said.

Indonesian Consul General Dharmakrity Syailendra will personally be available for two days for the Indonesian community in Madinah. He will participate in an Indonesian forum meeting where Indonesian students of Madinah Islamic university will give suggestions and feed-back on community services.

“We were totally occupied for nearly 10 months with the job correction campaign last year, which resulted in other issues being overlooked, and we will look into these matters now,” he said.
